There is shortage of younger coaches making an impact on the game of lacrosse in these modern times and Justin Turri is no exception. The likeable new head coach at St. Johns University is the perfect mold if you were cloning success. Turri grew up in the shadow of West Islip High School, where he starred in high school before becoming a two-time All American at Duke and four trips to the NCAA Final Four during his playing career for John Danowski. Turri spent time in the MLL, as an All Star, he competed in the PLL and recently moved near home, in Queens, to begin his tenure as the Red Raiders' head coach. With all his success, Turri is facing a tough assignment right now in 2023 with St. Johns not posting a win this spring, but if he stays put for a few years, and we give him a chance to find his way, St. Johns will be in good hands and what can you say about Justin, whose roommate used to be Jacksonville head coach and goalie legend John Galloway....it might seem hard to believe, but both guys are in their middle 30s.
